What Exactly Are Home Business Opportunities?

Home businesses, business opportunities, biz-opps, home based businesses, work from home businesses are all terms for the same thing. Though work from home also encompasses paid work.

Encyclopaedia Definition:

Business Opportunities: or Biz-opps, entail the sale or lease of any equipment product, or service, etc, that will allow or aid the buyer to start or run a business.

A More Accurate Definition:

Home business opportunities are ready-made systems, software, advice, ideas or aids as advertised in the Business Opportunities section of national and local newspapers, direct mail and internet advertisements.

The range of what is encountered within this area is huge from:

• Pure fraud
• Get rich quick
• Real but expensive
• Real and value for money

The main aim of the trial was to identify from experience not preconception or opinion... which is a decent home business opportunity and which is not... in order to do that an objective, open mind was needed.

When looking for an opportunity people often end up paying for eBooks, systems, seminars, insider 'secrets', software, courses, formula’s etc.

That’s the norm and as will become apparent not really of much practical use to the majority who hand over their cash.

I can totally identify with the people staring in bewilderment at the Business Opportunities section of a national newspaper... 40 or so ads all seeming to promise or suggest they have something that will help.

This report shows you what’s behind those ads, and what significance they may or may not have to you.

When you start out trying any of the businesses on offer you think certain elements and expenses will help you, only to find out later they were unnecessary or could be found cheaper elsewhere.

Bearing in mind what’s at stake, it is worth spending the time to get all the information you can before you start. In this way home business opportunities may actually become opportunities rather than just mistakes-waiting-to-happen.

Many, many hours were spent talking and interviewing hundreds of business opportunity seekers from 14 different countries. This involved phone calls at all hours of the day and many in the early hours of the morning.

Although you can make educated guesses on what is needed or what works, there is absolutely NO substitute for getting in the trenches and actually doing it.

The project started out by buying and trying every home business advertised in a major national paper.

Then it was a case of getting stuck in and grappling with all the little or large difficulties or nuances required with each business type.

Most of the time it was making mistake after expensive mistake, wasting days and weeks on unnecessary elements that had at first appeared crucial.

Talk about a steep learning curve.
